In honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year, I am going to do a review on the dragon-based Sentai warriors as they appeared. I decided to update an old post for that reason.  Hiryu Tsurugi/Change Dragon  The first dragon themed red ranger.  He's a pretty emotional individual despite being a responsible leader. However, Changeman didn't introduce the animal-themed mecha until Liveman . He does have a pitch attack called the Dragon Ball. Toei was also the studio behind Dragon Ball - a series that I heard got an American dub by Haim Saban.  Burai/Dragon Ranger  First sixth ranger of the Super Sentai franchise, first dragon themed ranger to pilot an actual dragon mecha. He was given his own six-part introduction which I dub as "Green with Evil". I always can't resist comparing Burai to X-1 Mask. X-1 Mask was a prototype and was written off for just one episode.   The show's about to end. With all the Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger previews available (no cast yet) - it's straightforward to expect the end. The cast finished filming around December 2023 and Masato Yato celebrated his birthday with the cast. I'll still be nervous about how the show could end. No more editing as the whole show wrapped up.  Last week's episode ended with a cliffhanger. Grodie is brought back to life. This causes trouble as always. What isn't surprising is Dugdead's revelation of the Bugnaroks. Bugnaroks once had their own world before they moved to Chikyu. Chikyu was probably once a vacant planet before Earth humans and Bugnarok moved into it. I do still have reservations about how King-Ohger is linked to the continuity of Kyoryuger . Ah yes, talk about a show I'm liking for its daring direction is linked to what I felt was a redundancy cycle. Power Morphicon is getting more Super Sentai guests huh? What even surprises me is that Kamen Rider Decade's actor, Masahiro Inoue, is also guesting. I still think Decade has to be the worst Kamen Rider from the Heisei era. I still call it the spiritual successor of Saban's Masked Rider . This surprises me that Kenta Sato was invited instead of Yuji Kishi. If I'm not wrong, the rumor that Gekisou Sentai Carranger "saved" Super Sentai was also from Rangerboard. Yeah, there are so many rumors disproven now such as the Power Rangers Lost Galaxy rumor in Japan. Right now, it might only be a matter of time before Turboranger gets an official Shout! Factory release.  The concept of teenagers with attitude wasn't all that ready yet Turboranger was practically the Trope Codifier of Recruit Teenagers with Attitude. After  Rita and Kaguragi discover their powers,  the next powers are practically unsurprising . In the case of Himeno, she's a doctor and has to wield the power of DEATH itself. Yes, I'm really thinking of the irony of the powers. Are these powers meant to show the necessity of destruction to create new stuff? I kinda like how this episode doesn't use Himeno as eye candy and makes one think.  Himeno tries to wield the power of death against against the Grim Reaper-style character, Grodie. Grodie is really incredibly creepy. I'll forever name it a weak point for the Jesters that only Grodie has a human disguise. Himeno strokes Grodie only to find out it doesn't work. I think the purple crystals seem to be nothing more than forced censorship. Fortunately, it does get beautifully woven into the plot.
