King-Ohger 23: Yes, Get Shugoddom's Giant Castle Zord Moving!

This week's episode gets the Castle Zord moving! Okay, why I'm using some Power Rangers terminology even if I blatantly dislike it is because I feel King-Ohger is a celebratory season. 30 years of Mighty Morphin' means 30 years since Toei managed to get its bigger start in the Western market. This week manages to conclude the Shugoddom Castle as a giant Zord arc. When the Ultrazord will debut may also be sooner than you think.

We see Kofuki who was first introduced during the King Racules mini-series. Speaking of Racules, I'm missing that idiot because he really has a lot of entertainment value. Kofuki was last seen unconscious and Himeno uses some healing spell. Wait, Himeno had that power? Did I miss something? Okay, it's all about trying to unlock the power of Castle Shugoddom. They find out some secret that it's not going to be that easy.

What better way to awaken a Zord than a Zord? Gira begs the Shugods to help them awaken Castle Shugoddom's mecha form. However, this causes a lot of complications than it would. Just think the castle has been around for two millennia. It's got to suffer from depreciation! I'm reminded of how the ordinary weapons in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger broke that they had to get the mystical ones.

It's predictable that the castle having been over 2,000 years old, would have faulty gears. The citizens of N'Kosopa all decide to help out. I guess it's a good thing that Gira lost his bet during the Challenge of the Kings. Gira does lapse back to his "Evil King" persona to get the gears. It's up to Yanma to remind Gira to become a just ruler. I do find it funny how Gira does lapse into his "alter ego" (and it seems he too should be identified as "they" like Rita's dual personalities). The people get the Gears they need to be able to finally complete it. Speaking of gears, I'm reminded of Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger which I really didn't find memorable.

However, one more Gear is missing before Castle Shugoddom could begin moving. A kid has a small Gear but he's almost stopped by Kamejim and some Bugnarok soldiers. Fortunately, Spider Kumonos arrives in time. I guess it's only practical that the other monarchs morph into battle because it's an emergency. I guess there's no room for an unmorphed fight scene in a dire emergency huh?

The castle begins to move and create the Caucasus King Kabuto robot. I love this bit of ham before the final battle with Daigorg commences. Yanma asks his fellow scientists to retreat. It's only natural to do so since it's a much bigger robot as well. The battle with Daigorg is rather short though. I believe it was done to save time. Gira also gets into really funny antics as the Zord transformation takes him to the cockpit. I love how the Founder's Crown is integrated.

I laugh at how Gira gets misunderstood before he's crowned. Gira tells the people they're like Gears. The people don't get his corny jokes. Racules is mentioned again. I wonder what Masato Yano is doing right now? I hope Racules returns as a neutrally-aligned villain that will mess up both Bugnaroks AND the heroes. The people understand what he means eventually. Kofuki also does run out of energy as well.

The episode ends with Gira becoming crowned king of Shugoddom. I'm almost reminded of the episode where Lucky was crowned king in Ucchu Sentai Kyuranger. Many times, Gira's behavior ends up reminding me of Lucky. Hopefully, Gira doesn't end up as such especially since he's got the Battlizer (via the Founder's Crown) and he's red. I believe the show will present more plots later on.

Next week would be a summer festival. So what's with the use of Toufu's culture to promote the festival? I wonder if we might even get a beach episode (which could be FUNNY if Rita is seen in a bikini) after this? Meanwhile, I wonder what the show wants to do with both Racules and Desnarak VIII? I hope we'll get a lot of interesting stuff soon!
