King-Ohger 32: Dinosaur Encounter

Now begins the two-parter King-Ohger vs. Kyoryuger crossover. As expected, King-Ohger is showing signs of being celebratory. That's why I'm going to make some crazy assumptions through and through! Take note that Koichi Sakamoto is involved in this episode. Why was Riku Sanjo wasn't asked to write this episode since he wrote all the episodes of Kyoryuger? Quite interestingly, Daigo Kiryu isn't around because the actor Ryo Ryusei really has his hands full. Now, for the first part of this crossover! Also, more interestingly was that the Dino Charge episodes of Beast Morphers didn't have a complete cast either. Hilarious in hindsight? Maybe, maybe not.

Last week's episode had the convenient use of portals. Coincidence or not it's also the anniversary of the FLOP Super Mario Bros. (1993) movie. Yes, that crazy movie where King Koopa was more human-looking, Toad was a rapper, Yoshi couldn't be ridden on, and it was a darker twist of the Lighter and Softer games. The movie was a bomb years ago and it became a hit in 2023? I feel Toei might be making a reference to the Super Mario Bros. live film that tanked but may have earned a Cult Following. I guess I'm now out of the closet that I think the Super Mario Bros. live film was a watchable mess. The portals here transport the King-Ohgers from Chikyu to Earth. They also face a new monster called Debo Milleniking who mastered all emotions.

For some reason, only Gira Husty could undergo his morphing sequence but NOT THE REST? Okay, there's got to be some explanation for that! I guess it's a plot convenience that forces more unmorphed fight scenes. I still feel Yanma is a combination of Billy Cranston from Mighty Morphin' and Shoji from Dairanger. Yanma does have Billy's technical expertise while having Shoji's comedic tones. It was nice to see the suitless fight scene pulled off against Zorima soldiers. Did Toei manage to take good care of the suits or were they recently created for this? I can't be certain but I think there are a few surviving ones.

It's nice to see Souji Rippukan try and teach Daigo's son, Prince, a thing or two. Rintaro Kawana might be a future ranger or what? I can't be certain but there's always this lesson newbies and amateurs get. You really need to learn from your seniors! Seeing Prince having a lot to learn is something. Prince is from the future and sent to the past. Prince was probably sent to undo the horrible future that was caused. Oh, typical time travel plots!

Okay, call me crazy but I'm going to write this down. Who can remember when Yoshi Sudarso visited Toei Ltd. and had a cameo in Ninninger? I do really hate Ninninger for how boring and annoying it can get. It's ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER than Ninja Steel. Yoshi had better stuff to do like meet Donnie Yen or other greater fighters in Asia. So Kaku resembles Yoshi in some way including that really huge build. Yoshi Sudarso's character Koda's Super Sentai counterpart is NOBUHARO UDO. Is this an inside joke or what? I think so and there's even the old man, probably a reference to Nobuharo getting called "old". I kinda wish Ayumi Kinoshita resumed her role from Kyoryuger. Ayumi herself probably has her hands tied with being a mom. Though, I want to believe Ayumi took her children to meet the King-Ohger cast BTS. I guess this scene might be a tribute to Yoshis' visit to Toei studio.

Meanwhile, Rita Kaniska, Himeno Ran, and Jeramie Brasserie end up meeting Ian Yorkland. Jurassic Park turned 30 and it's the key to Toei's and Saban's big-time success in the American market. Ian may be that blatant Jurassic Park reference too. Rita gets touchy when she sees Ian at the excavation site. Ian has no idea that he's meeting with people from some alternate Earth.

The King-Ohgers meet the Kyoryugers. A narration begins with the concept found in a lot of fiction. Alternate timelines, alternate realities, etc. It's confirmed that the events within the World of Kyoryuger happened 10 years later. I guess no Kyoryuger Ten Years Later movie? Well, I guess Toei decided to make this the official reunion but it feels incomplete without Daigo and Utsusemimaru. I guess Atsushi Maruyama has his hands full or what?

Yanma offers to repair Prince's broken Gaburicalibur. The two reformed villains, Luckyulo and Canderilla resume training. I guess Prince is sent back to the past to learn a thing or two. There are times I wish that Yanma was actually a weaker fighter with the brains like GoGoFive does with Nagare Tatsumi. Nagare's not that good with fighting while he's the team genius.

Debo Milleniking goes back to meet with Deboss who's managed to survive. Okay, I think it's a good thing Deboss survived because Daigo beating him singlehandedly is just... WEIRD. Debo Milleniking has been gathering different emotions to restore Deboss.

The two teams talk about the Zords. The Voltasaurs or Zyudenryu have been kidnapped. It's really one of those rare moments by Super Sentai or Power Rangers villains to get a bit more practical. Other than that, you can only expect zany schemes to achieve whatever they want to achieve.

It's also nice to see Prince battle with Gira. Gira throws in his Tyrant King persona to fight with Prince. I love the footwork done here especially when a young ranger faces the challenges. Maybe, I should really watch the Kyoryuger special which takes place 100 years after the series ended. Prince earns his right with the power of God Kuwagata. Both Voltasaurs and Shugods are Guardian Beasts after all. I'd say that Zyuranger may have been So Okay It's Average but it opened new doors to better ideas

It's refreshing not to see Gira use the Founder's Crown but the normal Red Ranger form. The Kuwagata-Ohger form teams up with King Kyoryu Red. They both destroy Debo Milleniking thinking all will be okay. Though, these are times when the audience knows better that the real fight has just begun!

Deboss shows up in a new body and starts a huge destruction. There's a LOT of explosions that happen here. Sakamoto worked with Bruce Kalish during the Disney era of Power Rangers too. There's the term Kalishplosions. I guess some people do need to see Dynaman first since the whole show felt like Michael Bay directed it. Speaking of Dynaman, I wish that both Junichi Haruta and Sayoko Hagiwara guest-starred too since they were Souji's parents. I guess securing them both would be impossible huh?

Souji can be seen trying to help the resistance evacuate. Again, I wish that Junichi and Sayoko were here. One can see the trouble caused and it's going to be make way for something big.

Speaking of which, Amy Yuzuki returns near the end of the episode. Didn't Ayuri Konno retire? It's a good thing that I can distinguish her from her Korean doppelganger Kim Seol Hyun by now. Amy finds the Voltausaurs. They do need their Megazords to defeat Deboss in his new body.

Jeramie meets with Ian yet again. The excavation site starts to bring some old tidbits. Chikyu literally means Earth. Jeramie even gets surprised by it. In the world of superheroes, you have Aliens Speaking English which is modified as Aliens Speaking Japanese. What made me laugh was this was almost a reference to the ending of Kamen Rider BLACK RX which ended in 1989 - before what I'd call the necessary failure. BLACK RX had that bizarre revelation that the Crisis World was a mirror of Planet Earth. That revelation could be mind-boggling but I think this scene was meant to throw back at it. Chikyu might be a twin of Earth. Okay, is this some kind of midseason retcon or what? Jeramie mentioned maybe his parents came from Earth and went to Chikyu. Okay Toei, what in the world is GOING ON?

I guess I should prepare for people who plan to force every Super Sentai series into ONE TIMELINE. I believe many of these people also belong to the Power Rangers community who watch Super Sentai. Just a warning: Trying to fix all Super Sentai into one continuity will create multiple more crazy contradictions than the actual Power Rangers "solid continuity". Yeah, I'm just going to probably enjoy the show if ever some people will force it again. It gets hilarious because so many events in Super Sentai aren't meant to be directly connected to each other!

Next week will be the morphing battle. I just wish Toei will realize that the series, as entertaining as it is, is suffering from TOO MUCH BATTLIZER FOCUS! Still, I can't wait to see how it'd end next week. Hopefully, it'd end up as "It's another Universe after all." explanation.
