King-Ohger 31: Jeramie's Mother

This week's episode connects to the last week's cliffhanger. I guess King-Ohger is now effectively a reboot after Donbrothers with the way things are going. Donbrothers did have Toshiki Inoue and it felt like a direct sequel to Zenkaiger but it isn't. In this show, almost every episode seems focused on dramatic elements. Jeramie's mother returns but is it her? Warning for spoilers or some may have predicted the outcome too early.

After last week's episode, Gira asks Jeramie about the latter's mother. Jeramie talks about her warmth and how the Bugnarok-human war began. As revealed by DugDEAD Dujardin - he started interspecies wars in planets for some inhuman reason. This also results in other interesting conversations.

There's also the desire for Trial by Combat. Speaking of which, I do miss Racules' stupidity just hearing that phrase. Who knows what Racules would do and it doesn't seem Masato Yano is out of the set yet. I feel Masato's probably just on a break to focus on real life. Himeno wants Rita to declare Grodie as an international fugitive. Rita reminds Himenno about international law and other legal stuff. Himeno is taken in custody to prevent her from doing vigilante activity.

Meanwhile, Kaguragi's quest to contact outer space is downright silly. I guess you can't have Super Sentai since 2001 without adding some culturally different humor. I want to pretend that Kaguragi might accidentally contact Sledge from Power Rangers Dino Charge instead. It doesn't help that So Kaku and Yoshi Sudarso kind of look alike. I even want to pretend Koda is really Kaguragi's ancestor. Both actors are experts in heavy-hitting suitless fight scenes.

Everything goes crazy with more Anime humor. What's with Yanma doing some Looney Tunes style of gun humor with that gun? Some people might get the Yosemite Sam reference. IRL, that wouldn't be funny since Gira could get hospitalized. I do still feel guilty laughing over Gira dancing while Yanma fires that blatantly fake gun with fake bullets. Yet, we see that often in cartoons, right? Rita is later bribed by Moffun and gets booby-trapped. Himeno later joins with Kaguragi to contact outer space. Trying to call space, they did get DugDEAD who is pretty much a powered-up Ginis from Zyuohger. I do feel that DugDEAD is an OP villain who likes to prolong suffering as long as possible. The mere fact that Dugdead shows up in the THRONE ROOM makes me scared. What if Dugdead decides to kill the heroes in their sleep next?

It turns out that Dugdead was successfully pranked. Oh, talk about crazy anime-style humor. Gira can't get it now, can he? Read between the lines. Good thing that Jeramie's plan didn't involve misleading Rita. They issued a public apology for the fake Bugnarok broadcast. Now, everyone's aware that the Galactainsects are truly responsible.

As mentioned earlier, Yanma did mention they'd need the Ultrazord to beat a powerful foe. I think that Jeramie's mother was cloned or her dead body's controlled by Dugdead. Maybe, Grodie was involved or not. The Ultrazord battle is cut short. I think I'm going to raise a bit of a complaint now. Why in the world is the Battlizer now becoming the red ranger's default form now? Like WUT? I think the whole Founder's Crown form should just be used in FREAKING EMERGENCIES. Instead, it's becoming blatantly overused.

Oh boy, I wonder if I should really say B-Fighter's Super Blue Beet form is to blame for the rise of Battlizers. Power Rangers in Space was the first Power Rangers season to give that American-exclusive Battlizer. Now, the Battlizer found its way back to Japan for the nth time after the American side modified the idea for their own exclusive use. I guess Toei and Bandai counted a lot of money every time Power Rangers added the Battlizer for some time. Jeramie still has some trouble defeating the doppelganger of his mother though. Can't blame him actually since his parents were the loving type.

Dugdead starts to show some cartoon villain stupidity again. It's really a trope that perfectly fits into any superhero show. Remember how often American supervillains tend to open portals and banish the heroes somewhere else? Well, it's played for the nth time when Dugdead shows just how dangerously stupid he can get. Dugdead opens a portal and we're about to confirm portals to another Universe. This reminds me of a similar incident in Kyuranger way back in 2017. However, this might become a two-partner. I still feel bummed out that Kyuranger episode 17 wasn't given a two-parter. Like WUT?

Next week is when the King-Ohgers encounter Modern Japan for the first time. King-Ohger is a series that lacks modern Japan. I had that really bad habit of trying to fit EVERY. SINGLE. SENTAI. into one singular time. I even heard some Power Rangers fans tend to do that. Most Super Sentai uses the illogical Tokyo is the Center of the Universe plot without apology. In the case of Power Rangers - it never apologies for making America (or New Zealand) the center of the Universe. The reason is because of plot convenience, time constraints, and budget constraints so any cooler plans get trashed most of the time.

Interestingly, I heard that secondary writer Kaori Kaneko (who was a major contributor to Lupinranger vs. Patranger and Ryusoulger) while the writer will be supervised by Minato Takano. Yes, Takano wrote all the scripts from episodes 1-31. I think Takano is allowed to build some experience like writer Riku Sanjo. I believe Sanjo had no idea yet what he wanted with Kyoryuger while he was responsible as the head writer of one of my favorite series, Kamen Rider Drive. Interestingly, Koichi Sakamoto is also going to do the Kyoryuger crossover as its director. The guy was involved with Super Sentai and Power Rangers for some time. Is it because Power Rangers had its 30th birthday as a franchise last August 28? Is it because Kyoryuger turned 10? Hmmm... I even want to joke that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are probably on the way. Jurassic Park did turn 30 too. I still believe Toei and Saban owe Jurassic Park their success in entering the American market. Sure, I personally dislike Power Rangers but business is business.
