I just had a thought that there were certain Super Sentai seasons that dealt with romantic themes to which I am an addict of and they are: Hikari Sentai Maskman- I would say this is the first with the love theme which makes me like the season so much.  The story actually takes the theme of so-called forbidden love where racism occurs (on the part of Tube) as well as honor killing (on Igam's part) and that Takeru's motivation throughout the series is to be reunited with Ial.  However despite all the efforts for them to be together, in the end they split as Ial must do her duties as the new queen of Tube to restore it, while still having feelings for Takeru.  Kenta and Momoko were also victims of tragic love as well.  Doesn't Takeru deserve a happy ending after all he's been through especially that rescue scene was so touching? While Super Sentai is most likely as self-contained continuities while the Gokaiger universe is an alternate continuity yet we later have the tradition of cameos in the VS movies.  They are the following: Goseiger made a cameo in Shinkenger vs. Go-onger where they fought off Dayu and Juzo before they can do any harm to the Shinkengers.  Then they disappeared. The first five Gokaigers appeared in Goseiger vs. Shinkenger which was later connected to a Gokaiger episode. So much for a self-contained continuity since dead warriors remained dead (lie Gai Yuki, Burai, Naoto and Mikoto were all ghosts!). In Gokaiger vs. Gavan, the Gobusters appeared for a cameo to fend off Basco. The Kyoryugers made a cameo in Gobusters vs. Gokaiger which I am about to see.

I don't know how many people felt like they should have ended together but I wasn't one of them, sorry but let's get this moving on. Now let's move on with the story on how this relationship came and went in Jetman. So the details?  Kaori was a bored rich sole heiress to her family, engaged to a jerk named Shouichirou while Gai Yuki was a flirt, a bum (looks like it!) and both one day got selected by fate to become members of the Chojin Sentai Jetman. The story gets far deeper than the fan pairing of Joe x Jun in Gatchaman. At first, it seemed nobody would think that Gai Yuki would get attracted to Kaori for the earlier episodes, when he realized he was really needed into the Jetman team, he seemed to show an interest on both girls Ako and Kaori. But he did show signs of being concerned for Kaori like when he tried to shield her from Ryu's temper or two, when he did all he could to protect her. He told Kaori that she would certainly fall for him but she fell for Ry...

There are some fan wars of pairings in Super Sentai similar to Seddie vs. Creddie.  Note that none of these are canon but they do happen... After Takeru /Red Mask broke up with Ial, there's the argument of Haruka vs. Momoko for Takeru.  He does have chemistry with Haruka while with Momoko, it's purely professional.  I'd call this the Takeruha vs. Tamako fan wars or if Ial is still on board, the Takeial fan shipping. Carranger had both Zonette (the official pairing with Kyousuke) vs. the fan pairing of Kyousuke with Natsumi with I would call the Kyosuzette vs. Kyotsumi fan wars.  In my own shipping, I prefer the Kyotsumi one. Then we have the Tamako vs. Takoha fan wars.  Some people say Takeru Shiba has better chemistry with Mako, others argue Kotoha.  I'm on the Mako boat but I don't mind those who prefer the latter pairing instead since they don't really affect canon.  My problem though with Kotoha x Takeru is... it might be just a crazy res...

So it's February and I guess I'll do some lovey dovey but I also remembered my ex-girlfriend who looks Yuuri. Now moving on... this is really the love across time which was more than that time travel romance in Liveman. This is 1,000 years apart. So what starts this tearjerker? So Yuuri was a girl from the future, year 3000 and Tatsuya was from the year 2,000. From a stream of events, this was a love beyond time and space. Before Timeranger started, Tatsuya was a runaway rich heir and Yuuri, well she was working for the Time Protection Agency. When the alien mafioso Dolnero escaped with Lila and Gien into the year 2000, Yuuri was with Domon, Sion and Ayase which led them to meet Ryuya's ancestor Tatsuya. They became friends but not immediately, Tatsuya became Time Red who was the only one different from them because in the year 3000, he had been dead for a long time. Yuuri became the actual leader while Tatsuya became the driving force. But the romance was not very immed...

In Super Sentai, there were also teenagers with attitude.  Now I'd like to do a comparison from show to show on how a team of rangers of teenagers with attitude are handled... The first set were the Turborangers.  Liveman was university life, Turboranger was high school life.  At first, the five Turborangers seem to be just selected by Seelon for being teenagers with attitude which some fans may have found baffling.  However what happens is that later in the series, we learn why the Turborangers are selected... it was because they were bathed in fairy energies when they were but children ripening up to become the Turborangers when they became teenagers with attitude.  I do find the fairy energies backstory added later good as it was probably to add a lot of sense to how Turboranger went on rather than just becoming rangers because they're teenagers with attitude. In Megaranger, it was intended by Professor Kubota to choose the team via the Megaranger arcad...

Gokaiger 28 does leave me pretty mixed since the reason that Gai Ikari can't see Gai Yuki was never revealed and the former only assumed because he was human.  In fact, it could be funny to assume that the comedic scene to others happened because they share the same first name.  So what's really the rule of thumb of ghosts and humans in Super Sentai? So why could the first five Gokaigers see Gai Yuki as a ghost and Gai Ikari can't?!  The possible explanation is because of their alien heritage but then there were supposedly normal humans who can see ghosts. Ryu Tendo during his wedding day while stupidly he couldn't see Gai Yuki slipping away from life... he was able to see Rie Aoi's ghost bid him farewell and giving her blessings.  Before Jetman ended, he saw Rie Aoi's ghost one more time before he eventually let go.  So was Ryu Tendo blessed with the ability to see ghosts while the rest of his team weren't despite the birdonic waves?  Possibly. ...
