Wishful Casting Kiramager Edition: Who I Wish Was Yodonna In Kiramager

Image
With the upcoming AGE-RESTRICTED Yodonna spin-off - I decided I would write this post for fun. I didn't want to write it last year and I was actually fine with Nashiko Momotsuki as Yodonna. Nashiko was actually the villain Shuka in the GARO Versus Road movie. However, I felt a more experienced actress such as either Nao Nagasawa or Ayumi Kinoshita could've done the part. My pick also came from a GARO movie and I want to emphasize her a lot... My personal thoughts were that Sayaka Akimoto should've been Yodonna. There are times established celebrities play up as important characters in Super Sentai. Goro Ibuki and Hayato Tani both played mentor roles to their fellow Takerus. The late Munemaru Koda and the late Soga Machiko do more than just Tokusatsu while playing recurring villains. I'm not saying that Nashiko didn't do well - she still did. However, I felt Sayaka's experience in martial arts, acting, and her role as Biku in the Garo spin-off movie. Her role...

My Thoughts On... Woah... A YODONNA, Age-Restricted, Spin-Off Film?!

Image
Well, sorry really if I'm not giving Zenkaiger updates because of personal stuff. I'm watching Zenkaiger but I'm doing it at my own pace. Heck, I'm watching some new stuff in Netflix and there's also personal stuff to take care off! I do feel the need to watch it at my own pace or maybe I'll soon drop it. I only react to updates - NOT GIVE THEM!  So, I thought about what Nihon Hero revealed about an age-restricted spin-off film . Granted, actress Nashiko Momotsuki appeared in GARO VERSUS ROAD which isn't a movie for children. I guess it's only normal to have an age-restricted film, right? The age restriction also made me think SOME bold stars did star in Super Sentai. For example, both  Turboranger  and  Carranger  had a bold star namely Kanako Kishi (Jarmin) and Rika Nanase (Zonette). I wonder if Toei really knows what they're doing in allowing such actresses to be starring in what should be a kiddie show?  The plot will also involve older alumni r...

My Speculative Thoughts On International Toku Fans, Fansubs, And Toei Ltd.

Image
It's no question that Toei Ltd. had created a lot of childhood. For Asia, they were responsible for the creation of Kamen Rider, Super Sentai , and some discontinued franchises like Metal Hero and the Super Robot Anime . For the West, they provided animation by their studios for Hasbro (such as for  G.I.Joe  and  The Transformers ), World Events Productions (localizing  Golion  and  Dairugger XV  into the  Voltron  franchise), or the rise of the Power Rangers franchise via Saban (which ironically, it's now held by Hasbro after Saban temporarily regained the rights from Disney). Though, it seems I'd like to say a lot of companies today are husks of their former selves. Disney really isn't the same Disney I grew up with or the Disney my parents grew up with. Nickelodeon just produces more garbage these days causing Butch Hartman to leave. Saban's return to Power Rangers made the franchise worse than Disney's. I wonder if Toei Ltd....

Super Sentai's SLUMPING Toy Sales On Super Sentai's 45th Anniversary While Kamen Rider Still Gets Huge Toy Sales

Image
I was thinking about the record of low Super Sentai toy sales. One such show that had it coming was Shuriken Sentai Ninninger - a show that was SOOOOOO BAD that it took the horridness of Power Rangers Ninja Steel to "bail" it out! Now, I was thinking about Bandai Namco's record for this year  which really makes you think about it. Kamen Rider is somewhat "still going strong" for a reason that it beats both Ultraman and Kamen Rider. I confess, I haven't been watching Ultraman and my preferences have slowly migrated to South Korea while I still love Japanese products. A record of total toy sales which would show that Ucchu Sentai Kyuranger had better toy sales than Kaito Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger . I speculated it based on the economies of scale that perhaps, Kyuranger toys were doing much better so there was a surplus. Some toy buyers probably bought the Kyuranger toys a year later while Lupinranger vs. Patranger was airing that same ...

I Just Hit The Super Sentai Taste Fatigue Zone Again For The Nth Time?

Image
Some things just hit at the WRONG PLACE at the WRONG TIME, right? For some, it's their birthday during a pandemic or some had a birthday when ECQ hit. For some, it may be a big milestone in their life. In my case, I do believe I just hit the Super Sentai taste fatigue zone for the nth time and it's during the 45th series, Zenkaiger. Just because I dislike Power Rangers doesn't mean I'm going to treat Super Sentai it's such a perfect franchise. Besides, I confess I did have preconceived biases towards newer Super Sentai during the early 2000s until I checked them out.  I felt critical about Super Sentai last 2013 (because we were having a third Dino Sentai). I decided to check out more of the older Super Sentai I haven't watched yet . I was also filling in the gaps when I decided to check some Metal Hero classics such as Metalder, Winspector, and Solbrain at that time too. I also decided to watch more Heisei era Riders and I've watched everything from Kamen R...

Zenkaiger Episode 5: Sushi Tournament

Image
Okay, I hope this entry will be good. I find myself caught up with other passions due to the digital age. So far, this episode was kind of entertaining. At the same time, I wonder if my vibes for Super Sentai are still up, or do I need another break?  The opening begins with the dangler in the last episode. Kaito still considers the fact that his parents could still be alive. That thought keeps him very much awake. It does lead to a lot of shenanigans actually.  The next day, Vroom (who was awakened last night) tries to look for the portal to Tojitend. However,  as expected, the plot can't easily move forward lest it suffers like the earlier episodes of Kamen Rider Saber .  Meanwhile, Bokkowaus is once again angry and slams both Barashita and Iijude into the air for the nth time. This gag doesn't get old that easily. Of course, Bokkowaus isn't too happy BECAUSE his efforts in conquering various parallel words is going to waste. Meanwhile, Sushi World is now turning p...

Zenkaiger Episode 4: Vroom Joins The Team

Image
As expected, this is the week that concludes the gathering of the Zenkaigers. I'm still thinking about the rather underappreciated  Kabutack and Robotack - both series that caused the Metal Hero franchise to be canceled in the late 90s. Is Toei trying to revisit the concepts? Also, in this episode, we have Vroom the final member who starts to make me think of Optimus Primal from the Beast Wars season of The Transformers .  The series starts off by revealing how lowly people can get in the Tojitend Empire. Vroom questions Professor Ijirude about the release of the different worlds. The policy is to kill any member of the empire who discovers what Bokkowaus doesn't want to be discovered.  A new half-brained plan that's launched involves a mosnter known as Boxer World making people fight each other. A wedding is turned into a brawl. A fan-signing event (Where's the social distancing?) turns into a brawl. An old man who eats at the candy store goes berserk.  The interact...
