Handling of Super Sentai Cast Changes

Image
I was inspired by Mr. Smith's entry on the Power Rangers side .  This is mine: Goranger- Since the late Baku Hakateyama was acting in a play so they for thirteen episodes got a different actor named Jiro Daruma to play Daigorou Kumano the substitute.  In order to make way for Baku Hakateyama's return, Jiro Daruma's character was killed off in a rather dramatic episode when Can Opener Monster hit him at the stomach with a big blade. Battle Fever J- First we have Diane Martin (who used her real name as the fictional character Diane Martin) left for some unknown reasons so she got her replacement Naomi Hagi to replace her as the pink ranger of the show.  It was in episode 24 that the character was wounded by Dracula Monster and left the team alive rather than dead, a situation similar in B-Fighter when the female warrior was replaced by another female warrior.  I personally thought that Kimberly Hart's departure was more well-handled than Diane Martin's.  Late...

Ranking the Most Kiddie Type Sentai IMO

Image
If there were mature series, there were also the ones I could count to be too kiddie IMO.  Here are they: Tensou Sentai Goseiger- I would rank this at number one considering my age of being 26 (or 27 by Chinese reckoning).  Most Super Sentai series for me click because they do have the common factor for children and adults but not this series.  I personally think that the story is better off with a small child.  The rest below I like them better despite their supposedly kiddie nature. Engine Sentai Go-onger- This was a show that was for me, really funnier than Gekisou Sentai Carranger especially with the talking cars (similar to Disney's movie's Cars) and funny humor with the comic strips.  Ironically, it had a team-up with Gekiranger and Shinkenger which were both dark seasons and this one was a cracktastic season with a rather gloomy final battle. Gekisou Sentai Carranger- I wonder if this should be here considering it had some really suggestive jokes. K...

Thoughts on Gokaiger Episode 12- Joe's Focus and Kaoru Shiba

Image
So here's pretty much of my thoughts on the whole episode 12. Sorry, I missed out episodes 9-10 for reviews. Kaoru Shiba's appearance is all but more practical than Takeru Shiba since she is the true heir of the Shiba household. Also... It was fun to see Joe's focus episode as well as how he and Barizorg (formerly Sid Bamick) has become from his close friend to his worst enemy. He has to make tough choices. Heroism is never easy. It's not about fame or fortune- it's about doing what's right. Kaoru Shiba's role as the true 18th head was further expanded when she gave the Gokaigers the power to access the samurai mode for the Gokai-oh. It was pretty bad-ass. Too bad Tanba didn't die in this episode. :-P As for Shinkenger characters, it's confirmed that Genta Umemori will appear for the Legend War. So where is Tori Matsuzaka? Maybe he's having some other project or is courting some woman outside the country. Who knows?

Kaoru Shiba in Gokaiger and More...

Image
Well Kaoru Shiba does get some fair treatment after all... Kaoru Shiba is back for a major role until next week's episode.  Although she can't morph, at least we'll see her do some feminine fighting styles.  She has a major role in demanding the ranger keys from them.  Oh well... think about ALL that power in the Universe!  She does have a good interaction.  However it's a pity that Takeru Shiba may not appear with her in the next episode... presumably Tori Matsuzaka has a busy schedule or I assume, may have found a girlfriend outside Japan and is trying to work things out with her family.  Who knows?  By the way, I wish Tanba will die in the next episode. There's something about Joe after all as he attempts to recall his past.  After all, he did serve Zangyack after all before he became a good guy. And some nostalgia treat... They turn into the Zyurangers.  Sadly Power Rangers fans who are new to Super Sentai will think of MMPR befor...

Handling of Villains Competing for Overall Power

Image
I would personally like to talk about two groups and do a comparison of villains competing for power within the whole season.  These groups are the Vyram and later the enemy factions in Boukenger.  Let's see how they operate: The Vyram compared to other organizations had no proper leader and they all competed for power. Radiguet was the overarching villain since he was the most powerful and is considered by many the biggest SOB villain of all time.  The four of them namely Radiguet, Tran, Gure and Maria competed for power.  Not exactly between Maria and Gure, they were an item.  Radiguet desired Maria but she hated him.  They did have formal leaders but were overthrown- Juuza appeared for only two episodes and Radiguet killed her and later Tran became Tranza but after ten episodes, he fell down at Radiguet's hands.  Also, there was plenty of drama especially when Maria was turned into a monster by Radiguet, when he realized he couldn't have her, no...

Some Childhood Nostalgia and Missing Pieces of Childhood of Sentai Fans in 199 Great Battle

Image
So why am I saying that there's a childhood nostalgia in me?  Well here's what's going on: First, it's a childhood nostalgia for the really older fans will be with the appearances of Naoya Makoto as Aka Ranger and Hiroshi Miyauchi as Big One.  However Hiroshi Miyauchi for me is best remembered as Kamen Rider V3.  They were those who watched Goranger (dubbed as Star Rangers in the Philippines) as well as JAKQ. Second, it's also a childhood nostalgia for those recalling the pre-Power Rangers days in the Philippines. With who?  Ryosuke Sakamoto remembering the Bio Integrate phrase, Junichi Haruta will be Goggle Black and Kenji Ohba (remembered him best as Gavan) or the legendary Kenta Satou who will be Red Turbo (I count him as another Jason David Frank of Super Sentai).  Too bad, Super Sentai isn't being shown anymore thanks to overrating Power Rangers and all things American and not giving the other side a chance.  Honestly, can't the local networks REAL...

Sentai Villain Decay

Image
I would like to write on Sentai villains I believe suffered from villain decay: Baraba- I think he did suffer from villain decay ever since Kiros showed up.  Then again, I never liked him as a bad guy anyway.  He was a scoffing villain. Zulten- He really went from bad to worse ever since the Nagare Bouma appeared.  Fortunately he's not as dumb as Bookback from Zyuranger was who was already decayed from the start.  So how did it work?  He remained hidden most of the time and only showed up whenever the writers felt like it.  Shigoki Bouma turned him into a fart machine in episode 33.  In episode 37, he created a fake Zulten but failed.  In episode 39, he was forced to side with the Nagare Bouma after he could not help his master Ragorn.  Overall, he was just another pushover.  However he's not as dumb as Bookback. Garoa- In Fiveman, he started off as an extremely vicious character but he later suffered from becoming comic relief lik...
