My Reaction To The Latest Post-Christmas Kiramager Leaks

Image
It's time for me to make short reactions again now, isn't it? After I decided to read through Ukiyaseed (my alternative to JEFusion) - I decided to get through these details and I'll just respond once more with my thoughts: Toei has revealed more details about the upcoming Super Sentai Series, Mashin Sentai Kiramager, revealing more plot details as well as the show's staff. For starters, it is confirmed that Mashin Sentai Kiramager will be the first Super Sentai Series to make its debut first in a movie before the TV series proper. The film titled "Mashin Sentai Kiramager: Episode ZERO", the film is part of the Super Sentai Movie PARTY, a double-billing of two Super Sentai movies, and will air alongside Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger vs. Lupinranger vs. Patranger on February 8, 2020.  In the film, a princess from the land of jewelry and Kiramai Stones comes to Earth in search of people with a "shining spirit" called Kiramental, a source of outst...

I Just Finished Watching Michael Bay Errrr Kagaku Sentai Dynaman

Image
Well, it looks like Metallic Fansubs just handed nostalgic fans a good Christmas present. It's a secret project so I had to download it in a batch. I did watch the fansubs by Millionfold Curiosity but they did go on hiatus presumably due to real-life events. It's time to throw some Michael Bay jokes as I finally give my final thoughts on the series. I would dare say the show is a step up from the rather generic Goggle V and somewhat of a step-up for the great Hirohisa Soda himself. If you haven't watched the show then watch it before you read it - unless you're a spoiler addict like me! The second half gives us more dynamite than the first. The heroes did devote themselves into developing the newer, stronger version of the Dynamite Attack after Evilution Empire decided to create better monsters. However, newer villains spring up as the show must present some new fresh blood, right? The second half starts to develop some conflict. I always found Mari Kouno's r...

Ryusoulger 39: The Druidons That Stole Christmas

Image
Well, it's time for a Christmas episode review. But this time, I'm not too passionate about it in contrast to Kyuranger's Christmas episode review . For me, this is kind of what I'd call just your typical passing by episode. So, I would actually do a bit of a review. Oh yeah, Koichi Sakamoto directed this episode and looks like Michael Bay didn't show up this time. Okay, it's time to go on a review. Is this really seriously one half-brained scheme or what? Wizeru wants to get rid of Christmas like the Grinch - not realizing that it's not in the decors or that it can't be bought from a store. They kidnap people dressed up as Santa Clauses. One of them is a magician which is sourced as the Menasaur's host.  There's some shipteasing between Bamba and an orphanage caretaker named Akari. Personally, the teases were nothing much but I kind of want to ship them. But like most one-shot love interests - aren't they usually destined to ...

My Reaction To Early 'Mashin Sentai Kiramager' First Updates

Image
Once again, I've got my JEFusion (and yes, I'm no longer a guest writer there) and UkiyaSeed to thank for this one. As said, any news ain't what I do. I just react to news when it's given. Here are a few information of what I gathered and I'll just share what I think. I took everything in italics from both JEFusion (which includes the picture above) and UkiyaSeed just to let you know. About the heroes  Here are the earliest details about the heroes: The Kiramagers are five youths that have the shining spirit called "Kiramental" in their bodies. These youths possessed mysterious gems with mysterious powers called Kiramai Stones and with it they transform into magical warriors to fight the evil Yodon Army as the Kiramagers! These heroes are:  Inspiration Sparkling! The Creative Warrior, Kiramai Red! Possessing the Red Kiramai Stone, he fights by harnessing an infinite amount of shining mental images!  Sword Point Unstoppable! The Slashing Warrior...

Don Armage As A Fanservice Villain

Image
After The Rise of Skywalker premiered and Forbes gave it a rather bad review  - I thought I'd probably do a throwback post. Kyuranger was obviously a Super Sentai series with some popular Hollywood references like Star Wars (which has to be the most obvious) and Spaceballs . Then you also have the classic old school novel series Lucky Star . Lucky Star was the hero of Isaac Asimov'snovels and somehow some highly ambitious old school literature don't get adapted into the live screen until way later. Right now, I just think of Don Armage as a character who has multiple references. The most obvious reference has to be Emperor Palpatine. A hooded character who talks through holograms? Check! Then you may notice that the character also is hooded like the very first Super Sentai Big Bad namely the Black Cross Fuehrer from Goranger . It's no surprise that the Crux System Minister is a repainted Black Cross Fuehrer. Not to mention - Don Armage has turned people over to the d...

Go-Busters Christmas Episodes Re-Review - Overcoming A Christmas Trauma

Image
After I decided to watch the Beast Morphers episode "Scrozzle's Revenge" (which rather turned out meh even for Hasbro's standards) - I decided to do a Go-Busters episode re-review. Now, it's time to focus on Go-Busters two-part Christmas special. It's not just a random Christmas special (like most of them) but it has something to do with the plot that happened 13 years ago leading to the present day. A lot of events in the Go-Busters two-part Christmas special bring back the past and the present. The Go-Busters lost their parents during the Christmas Eve tragedy 13 years ago. I find it way too insulting to name the virus as Messiah virus due to its malevolent nature. The Go-Busters grew up in the orphanage. A flashback shows Commander Kuroki in a Santa Claus suit - celebrating Christmas with the Go-Busters. It's only natural to hate a certain event when something traumatic happens. Thanks to Kuroki - Youko, fortunately, doesn't hate Christma...

Ryusoulger 38: Temple In The Sky

Image
This episode somehow gets a bit more of  Dragon Quest  with the title itself. If my memory serves me right - there's always this kind of trend in European Middle Ages-inspired stories. I mean, some of the best Japanese RPGs have had that kind of plot, right? Now, moving on and remember - Michael Bay errr Koichi Sakamoto directed this episode! You can tell things are getting desperate. I mean, aren't we at December already? Gachileus is now determined to destroy the Ryusoulgers once and for all. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? The Ryusoulgers are now searching for the Temple in the Sky. They see a massive sky fortress which takes Koh and Canaro into it. Meanwhile, Gachileus releases his own Menasaur called the Charybdis Menasaur. I guess releasing a monster from your own body is a sign you're indeed desperate. Sometimes, I can't help but think of Jarmin's desperate attack when she released Kuroko Bouma in Turboranger.  Meanwhile...
