Super Sentai and Curry

Image
It seems to be that curry has a place for some seasons of Super Sentai. Not all seasons feature curry. But here are instances I've noticed done from Googling or seeing: Himitsu Sentai Goranger had Daita eat lots of curry rice. I haven't seen much of the series though to judge or to talk about it.  But that's one plateful I would have a hard time consuming it! In Sun Vulcan, the Safari House served curry. The same location reappeared in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. In episode 4 of Liveman, Megumi was seen finishing up some curry The Abarangers had their their headquaters at the Dino House, which sold Dino Curry.  In Sentai crossovers, these are its visitors .  I must see more Abaranger though! In Boukenger, one of the post-episode clips, Natsuki is seen eating curry after the Goranger segment. It was a reference to Kiranger I's love for curry rice. In Shinkenger Act 36, Genta made some curry and it became a hit phenomenon. But at the end of...

Villain Monster Enlargement Methods in Super Sentai

Image
Super Sentai has monster enlargement methods which started in Denziman.  The shows that DID NOT have a monster enlarging method where Battle Fever J (since a giant version of the monster was sent in instead) the same process was repeated in Gobusters, Bioman lacked human-sized monsters and Gear launched Mecha Giants instead after the Beastnoids were defeated, Dekaranger's Alienizers would pilot a mecha monster and the monsters in Goggle V would pilot giant replicas of themselves called Kongs starting with Mantis Mozoo.  Now for the known methods: Self-enlargement: Denziman's monsters were self-enlarged when defeated.  Others that followed were monsters from Sun Vulcan, Dynaman, Jetman, Kakuranger, Gogo V, Timeranger (when the depression seal is removed from the Alien), Gekiranger, Go-onger, Shinkenger and ToQGer. Call the monster to make my monster grow: Hirohisa Soda's era introduced the monster-enlarging creature summoned when the monster is defeated.  Ch...

Four Reasons Why I Prefer to Watch Go-onger Over Gobusters

Image
Here's my reason why I prefer Go-onger over Gobusters... and I would like to compare two shows that had mixed reception and two shows I have finished from start to end. I would like to express why while I am really putting Gobusters at the bottom, I could still like Go-onger even if it's never going to be entering into the list of awesome for me. The comparison here is also done because of a rather forced comparison between RPM and Gobusters, at the same time I would watch Go-onger over those two shows that I just mentioned. Characterization of Rangers I would say that the Go-ongers are a team of mostly silly people but hey, they're not boring at all for me and neither do I find most of them obnoxious though I do have my face palm moments with these guys. I would really, really credit the fact that there is some interesting development. Hant is dumb, yes but I love how he chose his comrades over his initial stupidity of getting a job to get near girls and was able to h...

Super Sentai and Selfless Romantic Love...

Image
Super Sentai itself had some instances of selfless, romantic love.  These are when you love a person so much you are willing to let them go.  Here are a few instances of Super Sentai and selfless romantic love: One of my favorite selfless love encounters is Takeru and Ial. I mean it takes GUTS to break up for the right reasons.  For one, Takeru spent the WHOLE SERIES trying to recover the love of his life, Princess Ial.  In the end, Igam sees the errors of her ways and becomes a Buddhist nun.  So that means Ial must focus on the job set before her as the new queen of Tube, to set things right. Takeru respected her decision and let her go. So much different than Kiros' lust that wanted Ial against her will! My favorite example of selfless love in Jetman... Another one is in Chojin Sentai Jetman.  I just really thought of Radiguet's possessive love, Ryu's yearning for Rie because she was his greatest love, I just can't accept Kaori advancing over Ryu ...

Super Sentai Seasons I've Finished I Felt Like Were Very Dark and Edgy

Image
So I'll just talk about the series I've watched from start to end to avoid my usual pretending to be a know it all... which I've stopped now.  So a dark series may be described as very mysterious or great unhappiness or unpleasantness.  It can also relate to grim or depressing circumstances.  Edgy means nervous, tense, harsh or unkind. Hikari Sentai Maskman- I will admit I didn't immediately take a liking towards this series compared to Bioman's rather lighter nature (save the death of Mika Koizumi).  Maskman itself is a very, very serious series though it had a few moments of comedy but the tone itself is really very dark and edgy. As a series, Maskman is more serious and the moments of comedy are reliant on what could be unintentionally funny or intentionally funny.  Takeru for one isn't so lucky considering he's got to rescue his girlfriend Mio/Princess Ial, he has to fight her "brother" (sister) "Prince" (Princess) Igam and of cour...

Super Sentai Seasons That Replaced the Word "Episode" With Something Else

Image
Super Sentai usually just used the word "episode" to describe an episode.  But the whole trend started to change from Gogo V and it somehow still prevails until today.  I would also insert my own speculative analysis to why they are named as such: Gingaman started the trend as it named every episode as a Chapter like a chapter in a book.  Apparently they wanted have the feel its a classic epic in a modern day, just my WMG. (Added on October 14, 2014) Although I haven't seen much of Gogo V but I'd love to speculate why this series called its episodes as missions.  Obviously it's a rescue MISSION... and a mission is a task required to be completed within a fixed time. Timeranger's episodes were called "Case Files".  The Timerangers were time police protection of four people from the year 3000 arriving to the year 2000 and met Tatsuya in the process.  Each episode involves a renegade alien (NOT MUTANT) running loose, having charges back at the ...

Ranting on Non-Zyuranger Suits in Power Rangers Super Megaforce

Image
Power Rangers Super Megaforce had done something imo wasn't really called for which was using non-Zyuranger suits. While a Sentai purist may rant it's desecration, for me it's not desecration but just plain laziness. I mean, Saban Brands has the resources to film their own footage.  Consider the fact that for some time under Saban and even under Disney, Power Rangers has had its own original fight scenes. Even MMPR can be remembered for having original fight scenes which they filmed themselves.  For a similar entry, you may also check out this entry . For me, there is a thin line between Super Sentai and Power Rangers, even for a person who loves/likes both shows. So I do remember that Zordon said there were rangers on other planets BUT come on, most MMPR fans had grown up. I'm already 29 and I'll be going 30 next year and my fellow MMPR viewers are already all grown up, either forgetting about it or two, still remembering it. Which of course, it's really jus...
