Turboranger Villains: Bouma and Nagare Bouma

Image
Turborangers' villains for me were a pretty unique cast changing from the first half to the last half.  For villains, I thought they could really survive being sealed for thousands of years and later released with a vengeance.  Now here's what I think of them... Emperor Ragorn I really thought that despite him being partly immobile, he's one pretty frightening character and a pretty scary villain.  I mean, he DOES mean business and whenever his followers fail, he puts those extra arms located on his throne to good use to smack them or he fires projectiles to punish them.  I really thought he's pretty frightening and you'd hate to fail him.  His big weakness was when he allowed the Nagare Bouma to serve him and that's where his downfall was.  What I find weird about him was that Riki/Red Turbo singlehandedly defeated him in a one on one combat.  I mean come on he's the big bad of the show and he fell down after he nearly won?  Then he does co...

Turboranger Team Analysis

Image
Kosoku Sentai Turboranger!  Well I just say I would want to do an analysis on them now.  Now here's an analysis of the first batch of teenagers who fight against evil while struggling with school life... and the first batch for Super Sentai that is. Riki Honoo/Red Turbo What can I say?  This guy reminds me of me as a teenager- slacker, doesn't like to study and yet can get serious when things get rough.  For starters, he's pretty hyperactive and inattentive to his surroundings yet he does manage to make up for his weaknesses with his determination.  I really believe that it is his determination that seldom gave him unusual amounts of power in battle as Red Turbo because he could at times beat an enemy with just a GT Crash move.  I thought that his beating of Ragorn all by himself was really his most insanely awesome moment.  I mean seriously, he was ALL ALONE in that battle with Ragorn and yet he survived all through that.  What can be seen ...

Maskman Mecha Analysis

Image
Well now I'd like to talk about Hikari Sentai Maskman's set of mecha.  I just think they are one of the coolest mecha I've ever seen.  Here are they... The Turbo Ranger (no, not the Super Sentai :P).  I thought it had a very grand design that it looked like a giant car.  I just loved how this baby fired those missiles.  It carried the mecha of the Maskmen into battle. The Mask Machines.  I would dare compare the design of the Masky Fighter to the Volt Crewzer in Voltes V in some ways.  I just had my thoughts that this was the first time in Super Sentai history where every ranger got their own vehicle rather than share their own vehicle, plus it was already good that they also shared the same cockpit too.  I just also gave my thoughts it was cool how the Masky Drill was also used in rescue operations as well, probably giving room much later for Gogo V's rescue concepts. Great Five- Perhaps easily one of the best Super Sentai main robot ...

Maskman Weapons and Vehicles

Image
Well for Fantasy Leader to do some Bioman reviews, I think I'll do some Maskman tackling on my nostalgia.  Now here's the weapons and what I think... Just pretty standard.... nothing much to say. Well okay I don't have their individual pictures but I thought the show's got some awesome weaponry.  Okay aside from Red Mask's wielding his own unique sword together called the Masky Blade, it kinda gets awesome when he uses it with the default sword.  For Black Mask, his Masky Rod's ability to become a nunchuck of sorts is badass- perhaps it really gave the idea for Dairangers' rods which each ranger could transform it into something else.  For Blue Mask's Masky Tonfas, I say they kick ass so don't underestimate him just because he's the youngest.  For the Masky Rotor, I count it as one of the coolest weapns ever.  For Pink Mask's Masky Ribbon, it's kinda getting Goggle Pink's ribbon upgraded. I did think that the Spin Cruiser ...

Bioman Enemy Analysis: New Empire Gear and Silver

Image
While it was called as Neo Empire in the Filipino dub, it was rightfully called as New Empire Gear.  I just thought at first it was an alien organization or what, but it turned out to be quite a human organization.  So here's what I thought of them which has some differences in contrast to Fantasy Leader's analysis here . Dr. Man I just thought he was a pretty cool mad scientist villain.  Okay nothing is known of him at the start except he whines about that he is the rightful ruler of the world, he hates humanity and that he claims to possess the best technology in the world if not the Universe.  I really find his make-up freaky (and yep Munemaru Kouda does a good role playing him and later the Gorma Emperor also had the same scary make-up).  What I pretty much liked about this character was that he was mostly ready for treachery or two, he wasn't really just evil for evil's sake.  The fact that he was a human who wanted to elevate himself above human...

Bioman Team Analysis

Image
In honor of Fantasy Leader and Ukiya Seed for doing some Bioman analysis, I'll do my own version although I have yet to feature a spotlight on some of my favorite childhood heroes.  Seriously I really thought of Chodenshi Bioman as a bionic mover for Super Sentai just as Dynaman was dynamic and Changeman changed Sentai.  Pun intended. Now on to the character analysis: Shiro Gou/Red One Ancestor: A samurai Okay for a start, he's a space pilot for the first Japanese shuttle in 1984.  I did think that he did put his dreams behind when he became a Bioman, proved to be a responsible leader and all.  Okay maybe a mold for future reds?  I would say so.  I did think that he could have introduced the concept of civilian super powers for certain rangers as unlike the others, he's the only one who had unusual powers out of suit.  In his case, he could speak to animals.  I just thought it was fun seeing his rivalry with Mason although Fantasy Leader ...

Red Hawk's Enmity with Radiguet

Image
I just thought that examination of the rivalry between Red Hawk and Radiguet is a pretty interesting one compared to that of Gai and Gure, to which I felt was "too random" compared to Masumi vs. Yaiba.  Now I just thought here's my analysis.  I'll probably do more rivalry analysis after this as well. What was the root of this conflict?  I just had my thought that Radiguet was quite a random encounter at first, did the pretty standard act of despicably evilness by blowing up the Skybase satellite.  What I thought was this that it was that day Ryu lost his beloved Rie.  She didn't die but instead, for some creepy reason Radiguet turned her into a Vyram but Ryu is not a bit aware of that yet.... The rivalry between them started in Jetman episode six, when Radiguet and Ryu first met.  So here, Radiguet introduces himself as the earl of Vyram and calls humanity as stupid and hateful, as if he wasn't himself.  Ryu shows some hope for humanity while the...
