Boonboomger And ToQGer Belong To The Same Continuity?
Last year, King-Ohger's timeline was linked with Kyoryuger. This year has ToQGer linked with Boonboomger. I'm getting ready for some people who still believe in the existence of the Super Sentai timeline. One episode featured the Go-Onger guest episode, explaining that Go-Onger was from another world. However, this episode links or proves that Boonboomger is in the same continuity as ToQGer. Watching ToQGer when I had taste fatigue from Super Sentai was why I didn't initially enjoy it.
This week's episode didn't have any open portals or anything. Instead, it really had it that Akira and Right Suzuki. Jun Shishon only showed up at the end of the episode. Shin Nagahama took the cake as the guest star. No mention of Shadow Line was made. The plot had some crazy train-themed monster called Senro Grumer. The people get forced to play choo-choo train against their will. Getting all the ToQGer cast together may be impossible -- given that some are involved in J-Drama or other projects!
Super Sentai entries are usually self-contained. A good example is that dinosaur deaths differ from entry to entry. Checking out Zyuranger, Abaranger, Boukenger, Go-Onger, and Kyoryuger should give a clue. The Super Sentai timeline will contain even more contradictions than Power Rangers. Megaforce was already a continuity error. Try to fit Gokaiger into everything from Goranger and it's an even bigger continuity error. However, fans seem to have fun forcing a timeline no matter how absurd it can be! Let's face it Power Rangers also had a few entries existing in different Universes such as Dino Charge and RPM. Kyuranger used the multiverse plot to explain its crossover with Dekaranger.
Some Super Sentai entries state the direct continuity or another continuity when it's there. Sun Vulcan is directly linked to Denziman. Most entries were written and produced without direct links to the prior series. Ninninger and Kiramager had guest episodes. Ninninger obviously takes place in the Crossover Universe. Kiramager is apparently from the same continuity as Gekiranger. 1995 may have retconned things but only in terms of adding in the first two series. The more I watch Super Sentai -- the more it's obvious that most series are meant to be self-contained instead of a shared continuity. That means a Super Sentai morphing grid isn't possible.
What came to my mind was the 10th anniversary from the 2010s. King-Ohger is a huge festive season. Boonboomger may be running under a slimmer budget. King-Ohger took place during Kyoryuger's 10th anniversary. Boonboomger took place during ToQGer's 10th anniversary. Was this 10th anniversary meant to link later series with a previous series? Thankfully, Kyoryuger's messy crossover with Go-Busters was meant to be a non-canon movie. I was glad that ToQGer never forcibly fit Dekaranger into the series just for the heck of the 10th anniversary. Why is Toei now featuring the 10th-anniversary tributes as EPISODES instead of NON-CANON TV SPECIALS? I wouldn't be surprised if Ninninger suddenly returned for a 10th-anniversary TV episode tribute!
There's still a generous space between the Go-Onger guest episode (which established itself as a different continuity) and the ToQGer episode. Thankfully, not so many Ranger History Lessons abounded in Boonboomger. Most episodes were fully devoted to simply Boonboomger. However, I must ask why Boonboomger's latest episode suggests that it belongs to the ToQGer continuity.
Many Toku Fans have been theorized that a very, very long railway line is linked not just in BoonBoomtopia & ToQtopia only, but also to 46 other Super Sentai Topias. Think of either Sanriku Railway Rias Line in Iwate Prefecture or Matsuura Railway Nishi (West) Kyuushuu Line in Saga & Nagasaki Prefectures. Can't wait for possible BoonBoomger Vs. King-Ohger & Vs. ToQger next year!
