If there was anything that I considered to have some massive foreshadowing in Maskman, it's not Igam's gender (the audience knows that she is a woman raised to be a man, only the Maskman couldn't see the obvious for some reason) but it was rather Zeba's origins. In episode 11 (correct me if I'm wrong), the crown of the Underground would reveal Zeba's illegitimate leadership of the Tube.  It was the crown of the late queen of the Tube whose only words that we could hear were that Zeba was an usurper.  However Baraba destroyed the crown before anything else could be revealed.  In fact, the audience is given the idea that Zeba's rule was illegitimate therefore he must be hiding a dreadful secret. In episode 35, we get to see another foreshadowing of Zeba's identity.  It was in that episode when there was this forbidden tomb where Kiros sought to unleash the power of Lethal Dobler, while everybody is unaware of Zeba's true identity.  What happens he...

Okay there have been a few beefs I've had about Maskman like Momoko being barely developed and she and Takeru barely had interaction (but they did have a few interesting interactions imo).  However I cannot deny how this show was pretty much my favorite 80s Sentai.  I really think this show could have inspired later writers like the late Noboru Sugimara and Yasuko Kobayashi in some way.  Okay I wonder what Sentai you think is best during the 80s so comment all you please and tell me why.  But now, h ere are the reasons for my Maskman frenzy: I just thought that the characters were pretty interesting even if Kenta and Momoko weren't that developed (well that was the 80s) but the martial arts aspect plus the characters made it something new as they show us real kick ass action, creating a mold for martial arts based Super Sentai for much later like Dairanger and Gekiranger.  I just thought that the backstories of Takeru (with Ial), Akira (being a devoted son) ...

Well I had some stress going on lately so I haven't updated this blog.  However here's my latest thoughts on Gobusters: Masato Jin acted by Hiroya Matsumuto (who played as Magiyellow in Magiranger) is cool.  I kinda thought after doing a couple of J-Drama, it's nice to see him in Tokusatsu in a new role.  Well it's kinda nice to know that somebody did survive teleportation and has a buddyroid named Beet J Stag who is more than a Buddyroid, he also is an additional ally in battle as Stag Buster. The two new allies really do have some suit designs I like... That mecha called the BC-4 Beetle is awesome.  Although Enter stole the blueprints, the bootleg was defeated by the original.  Cliche... but the design is pretty cool with that jet fighter finishing move it has is... weird yet awesome.  The SJ-45 Stag Beetle is also pretty unusual to be used as a finisher. I just really thought of this- Gokaiger is visiting my childhood! So here's what I can say- I never dreamed of a Gokaiger vs. Gavan video knowing that Super Sentai is supposedly separate from Kamen Rider and Metal Hero, in fact I'm assuming that Super Hero Taisen is going to be non-canon. So here are my thoughts about it: The Good: Ga-ga-ga-van! What do I have to say? Everything goes back to my childhood when I used to watch a Gavan dub which at first, I didn't mind the dub because it wasn't horrific. I did remember the number of times I always impersonated Gavan by saying "Space Sheriff Gavan" and all. Well I would have wished it would be with Sharivan but Gavan does fine. In fact, Keiji Ohba showing up for minor roles every now and then is a plus. As said, they age and they get minor roles yet we can never forget their younger days. Well talk about GUSH.... I'm GUSHING!  As said, this was the result of this... Just a funny illustration and kudos to whoever made this funny photo... you rock! Well this one makes me gush.  Why?  I remembered watching both Maskman and Kamen Rider Black as a child.  Both series were part of that childhood and delusions.  Just seeing them even for awhile is an "ooohhhh" to me remembering both series. Or one can consider what if your childhood favorites fought side by side to correct a timeline gone wrong?   Then again how did Black and Black RX split again- it's been I mean the third time the past and future meet?! I am yet to see but I will definitely want to see it.  Even if I'm not much of a Kamen Rider fan but it's fun to relive those good times that prevented me from going insane.

Okay I will admit that Super Sentai is just fiction, but I do admit that in Super Sentai, there is a degree of realism to add to it like character flaws, tragedies and nightmares that just don't stop in the midst of fictitious environment.   So here are the Super Sentai series that I could relate to: Chodenshi Bioman- Well this is the first in the list.  Not much here but I do remember there were times like Shingo I fell into self-doubt or like Ryuuta that I was a rebellious youth during my teenager years.  I also remembered like Jun where I realized that heroism is far more important than fame and that fame isn't about heroism and vice-versa.  On the side of the villains, I could relate to Dr. Man in my foolish quest to become the most intelligent person on Earth.  Made me think I'm glad Dr. Man's intelligence enhancing machine is just fiction or I'd be an old man by now. Well I just thought that there were Super Sentai revelations that were known by the audiences before the rangers ever knew them.  Here are the following as far as I can remember so don't hesitate to tell me where I'm wrong with this list: Igam's "gender crisis" that is she is a woman pretending to be a man.  The audience knows from the first episode or for some, her childhood flashbacks that she is a woman.  WTF Maskmen?  Can't you see she is really a she?! :P Emperor Zeba not being human was a secret that started to go around the series before the Maskmen knew of his hair-raising secret- foreshadowing on the obvious.  Seriously one can see that he is really a legendary monster and various episodes foreshadowed it to the viewers.
